Are you still here with me? I know this story is a long one but it wouldn’t have felt right if I left out any details about our time in Utah through when we traveled home. Through this whole rollercoaster process of adoption I was often left wondering IF our time would come AND would I really feel like it was the perfect time when it did.
How could God write the story to make it so obvious to me that THIS was the perfect time?
I could not see how this was going to happen and I prayed that whenever it did that it would be apparent to me that the timing was perfect and that this child was meant for us.
Through this week there were many testaments to divine timing:
- Matt was supposed to be traveling for work during the hurricane but decided to cancel his trip so he could be home with us in case the storm got bad. Good thing he was home or we would not have been able to leave to get this girl.
- Matt’s mom was oddly not scheduled for work for the next week and had the freedom to meet us at the airport during our layover and fly with us to Utah.
- When we arrived in Utah our rental car was upgraded to a suburban at no extra cost.
- Dear friends were already in Utah once we arrived. Friends that have walked deep in the trenches of miscarriage, adoption, and waiting to grow their family. Those that knew exactly what we were going through.
- Our ICPC was cleared in under a week and the whole process went smoothly.
- We learned of another family also adopting that came in from Minnesota who we tried to connect with but ended up leaving before we were able to.
- Traveling home we were able to book a flight with a 2-hour layover in Minneapolis and we spend a quick lunch with our entire family who all got to meet Kendall just 9 days old.
We were so grateful for the afternoon to introduce Kendall to her grandparents, aunties, uncles, and cousins! It was just that much more special to share those first days with all our family as normally it would be weeks or months before we would see any of them again.
Our story doesn’t end as God is continually writing our story with Kendall now in our family. She is officially our daughter as of March 2019 and we will always have this unique testament to how God decided to grow our family. Through, admittedly, fear and doubt along with hope and joy we added a sweet and spunky girl to the mix and we know that she was always meant to be apart of our family!
