Here’s a peek at my own journey with Vitamin D supplementation! ☀️

Let’s rewind to October when I got my lab results back and found out my Vitamin D level was 15 – yikes! Definitely on the low side. My doctor’s recommendation? Take 50,000 units of Vitamin D once a week for 12 weeks. But... there was no mention of pairing it with Vitamin K2 or magnesium to support calcium absorption and bone health. 🤔

I decided to take a different approach! Instead of that high-dose, I opted for Thorne’s Vitamin D3 + K2 drops (10,000 units/day) for about a month. Before I started upping my Vitamin D, I made sure to bring in magnesium glycinate to support my magnesium levels, which are key for Vitamin D absorption. I kept this combo of Vitamin D3, K2, and magnesium going consistently while dropping to a maintenance dose of 5,000 units/day of the D3.

Now for the exciting part: after a few of months of this routine, my Vitamin D levels shot up to 66! 🎉 I’m so happy with these results. Moving forward, I’ll continue to prioritize magnesium daily, incorporate Vitamin D3 and K2 into my supplement rotation as needed, and get outside for some good ol’ sunshine! 🌞

Let’s talk about Vitamin D and why it’s so important (and often overlooked)! ☀️

You might be deficient in Vitamin D if you’re dealing with things like getting getting sick all the time, night sweats, bone tenderness, depression, or estrogen dominance.

The ideal range for Vitamin D is 40-80 ng/mL (aim for that sweet spot around 50-60), but low Vitamin D levels can also be a sign of magnesium deficiency. Why?

Because when you’re low on magnesium, calcium has trouble getting into your bones, and instead, it starts building up in your soft tissue. Since Vitamin D plays a key role in calcium absorption, your body might lower Vitamin D levels to prevent too much calcium buildup in the wrong places.

So, if you’ve got low Vitamin D, you might need more magnesium too!

And don’t forget: Vitamin D + K2 are best friends! K2 helps direct calcium into your bones, keeping it out of places it doesn’t belong. 🦴
