Instant Pot Bone Broth
Bone broth has become a staple in our household as we use it often in soups, sauces, and for straight-up sipping! I make mine in the instant pot where I can set it and leave it until it’s done cooking and it doesn’t take all day long.
Bone Broth Benefits
- immune support
- gut health support
- promotes healthy bones, hair, and nails
- full of vitamins, minerals, and collagen
- provides joint support
- reduce inflammation
- aids in sleep
As we cook chickens I store the bones in the freezer so I always have ingredients ready when I need to make a batch of broth. I also freeze all my vegetable scraps each in their own bag (one for onions, one for carrots, one for celery).
Did you know you can save the skin and ends of your onions and the carrot peels for making broth? I save all my onion, carrot, and celery scraps and store them in the freezer along with my chicken bones.
Want to know what my secret ingredient is to get my broth to gel?
Chicken feet! I buy a pack of chicken feet at the store and freeze them. In every batch of bone broth I toss in two chicken feet to help my broth gel. The collagen is so good for us!
Instant Pot Bone Broth
8 cups of filtered water (fill to cover all ingredients)
2 pounds chicken bones and pieces
2 chicken feet
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 yellow onion, quartered
2 carrots, cut
2 celery stalks, cut
3 cloves garlic
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

- Add herbs, salt, pepper, and apple cider vinegar.
- Top everything with filtered water and be sure to not go above the fill line.
- Cover and lock your lid. Seal the valve.
- Set your instant pot to 120 minutes at high pressure. Once done cooking quick release the pressure.

- Place a nut milk bag in a large bowl and ladle your broth into the milk bag to strain out all the pieces. Discard the solids.
- Pour the strained liquid into ice cube molds to freeze and store for later or store broth in glass jars in the refrigerator.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
