My baby girl turns one TODAY! I still can’t believe it! Last weekend I prepared a smash cake to that I could have some photos ready to order for her birthday party next week. Over the course of three days I took photos of her, trying to get her to eat the cake! She wanted nothing to do with it. I thought for sure she would dive right in (as she did last week with the cupcake I gave her), but my dreams were shattered and my expectations were certainly not met.
I am not sure if it was the odd shade of pink or the size of the cake or just being center of attention with a weird outfit on, but she was not interested. I pictured dreamy light, sitting in the grass, with a pretty ribbon backdrop and a baby covered in cake and frosting. Each day we took her outside and tried to get her to sit and smile and maybe try a little cake. On the third day I sat her inside and tried to keep her as happy as possible. She still didn’t want to even sit by the cake.
Finally, I gave her my iPhone (babies love iPhones)! And of course she was thrilled and happy as a clam. Can you tell by her smile she is giving me. She totally won out and it laughing AT me I’m sure! So I thought why not just go with it and maybe if she had a phone in her hand I could get a few outside with her birthday outfit on. So we went out and below is what I got. I don’t think I can even photoshop the iPhone out, but then what kind of story would I have to tell her when she is older? So iPhone stays and she is happy!
Happy birthday baby girl! We love you!
PS: She loved the cake once I cut it up and fed it to her for dinner. I made a baby friendly cake so it didn’t go to waste!
