During the workshop this week we all went outside to do a time lapse shot of the outside of the building. I have never done something like this before, however, I have heard of the concept called painting with light and using your flash to do fun lighting techniques. So all the workshop attendees lined up and on Justin’s signal we started popping or lighting the building with our flashes. We were given instructions where to light and to keep moving at all times. I felt like a big goof moving around, trying not to twist an ankle. The purpose was so that we didn’t burn ourselves into the frame, thus we never show up in the shot itself! Justin then showed us how he would light the building if he were alone. I can’t wait to try this sometime! Here is a video Mary shot while we were lighting the building and the final results! Also, check out some more of their awesome night lighting shots here.
